| Features | From the Ch'ing dynasty until the end of the Japanese occupation of Taiwan, Shulin was a major
producer of red wine. The famous hong lu jiou is a red wine made from sticky rice.
Though distilleries in Shulin today rarely make the famous red wine, the city still remains a source of good wine. For its size the city also has an unusually large number of elementary schools. The Shulin train station is a major transit point for all trains going to Taipei and Hualien. The school is 5 minutes away from one of the two train stations in Shulin. Thus, transportation is convenient. |
